CSC Selection Criteria -  October 19, 2009

BC Provincials -  October 17, 2009
The BCFA is pleased to announce that, after a competitive bidding process, Dynamo Fencing Club will be hosting the BC Provincials on May 15th and 16th 2010. The tournament will be held at the Richmond Curling Club. Please find here a copy of the revised BC tournament schedule.

Please click here for a list of tournaments in the upcoming season. The bolded tournaments are those that the BCFA has agreed upon for sanctioning by the CFF. If at this time your tournament date is unannounced, please do not pick a weekend on which there is already a sanctioned tournament.

CFF/BCFA Licenses - August 25, 2009
Please be reminded that CFF and BCFA licenses should be renewed or obtained for the upcoming season by September 1st, 2009. BCFA licensing is now done in collaboration with the CFF here.

Both BCFA and CFF licenses are required to enter any BCFA or CFF sanctioned tournament, and are also required for insurance purposes.

Sanctioned Tournaments - August 21, 2009
The BCFA is required to submit a list of sanctioned tournaments to the CFF at the start of this fencing season. The loan of BCFA equipment will be prioritized to sanctioned tournaments. If you are considering hosting a tournament this season, and would like it to be considered for sanctioning, please e-mail the following information to the BCFA president at president.bcfa@gmail.com by August 31st 2009:

2009 BCFA AGM - June 17, 2009

1.  team members had fist dibs; these were ranked by their age group (Cadet, Junior, Senior) Domestic ranking;
2.  then non-Team members ranked by their age group Domestic ranking.
The rankings that were used were the last Domestic ranking, as of May 7, 2009.  The BCFA would like to congratulate the selected fencers, and wish you good luck at the competition.

Okanagan Fencing Camp - Apr 3, 2009
Designed to specifically target fencers who are competing at CSC's, NAC's, and International Events.  Emphasis will be on physical and fencing preparation for the upcoming season. Dates: Jul 25 to Aug 2.  Click here for information.

BCFA Office Administrator - Apr 2, 2009
We are pleased to advise our members that we now have an office administrator, Gerda Driessen, for two days per week.  Gerda will support the board members and our membership at large.  Her immediate focus will be on membership and club lists administration, and on organizing proper sign-out procedures and inventories for BCFA-owned equipment.  Gerda will also assist with the office lease arrangements in the SportBC building.  Her new BCFA phone is 778-232-3093.  Please join me in welcoming Gerda!

Event Registrations - Mar 31, 2009
Clubs hosting fencing related events need to register them by using the Event Registration form found under "Downloadable Forms" (see left hand column).  This form will ensure that all tournaments, camps, or similar fencing events are fully covered by the BCFA's liability insurance.

BC Provincials - Mar 19, 2009

New Office Administrator - Feb 22, 2009
This position (2 days/wk) was advertised through SportBC since October of last year.  We had a candidate for a short time, but he found another job out of province.  Few applications have come in and there were no takers.  We have an offer from a fencer parent to do the work, at least for the remainder of the season. Before accepting the offer, the board decided to extend the application process until the end of February.  Any interested candidates should notify the vpmarketing.bcfa@gmail.com by 5pm on February 28, 2009 for consideration.

BC Team Expense Claim Procedure – Feb 14, 2009
This is a reminder for all BC Team funding recipients to submit their expense claims using the downloadable "Expense" form (look under tab "BC Fencing Association, sub-tab in the left column).  Complete this form according to the funding levels provided for by the program acceptance letter which you received.  Mail your form and attached original receipts to Manuel for approval.  Your re-imbursement cheque will then be mailed to you.

Northern Freeblades Fence-Off - Aug 31, 2008
Registration is open for this event at the University of Northern British Columbia, on October 4 and 5.  Events include competitions for foil, sabre, epee, and a Fencing Performance Clinic (epee) lead by Maitre Victor Gantsevich on Oct 5.

2007-08 was a good season for BC Fencers, with lots of good results that we are very proud of.  We are looking forward to another good year.  Your registration page has been updated, and fees have been reduced to encourage more fencers to go out and compete.
